All personal protective equipment and clothing used by FOX Corporation personnel and activities will meet the requirements specified in this Procedure.
1.0 SCOPE
FOX Corporation (FOX) is committed to the safe use of personal protective equipment in its operations. This Procedure addresses requirements for the
selection and use of various types of personal protective equipment, with the exception of respiratory protection equipment, which is addressed in EHS 302, Respiratory Protection.
2.0 Definitions
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
clothing or other equipment worn by an individual worker to provide increased protection against an identified workplace hazard.
3.0 Responsibilities
In addition to required Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Program responsibilities discussed in EHS001, EHS Policy, the responsibilities described
below are necessary to ensure the effectiveness of the procedure.
3.1 Department Heads
Department Heads will be responsible for ensuring:
- Individual workers are provided with PPE appropriate to the hazards of the work they are performing
- All PPE maintained by the Department (i.e., non-individual issue items) is in good working order.
3.2 Employees
All Fox employees will use personal protective equipment as directed by their Department Head, and in a manner consistent with this Procedure.
3.3 Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Department
The EHS Department will:
- Develop appropriate standards for the safe use of protective equipment in all Fox activities
- Perform a periodic review of this Procedure (at least annually) to ensure that all requirements are current and Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) requirements.
4.0 Procedure
4.1 General Requirements
The selection of PPE is based upon the hazards identified in the workplace and the activities that will be performed while using the PPE.
- Fox will provide suitable PPE as required for the nature of the job being performed, such as, but not limited to:
- Eye and face protection
- Gloves
- Chemical protective clothing.
- Employees will use applicable PPE on any task where there is potential exposure to:
- Physical hazards, such as equipment operation
ยท Materials, which might cause injury, illness or skin irritation.
- All PPE will meet all applicable current American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards for the particular equipment.
4.2 Storage and Maintenance
4.2.1 Maintenance
- Employees are expected to maintain PPE in a clean, ready-to-use condition.
- Employees are expected to perform periodic inspections to ensure that equipment is undamaged and fully functional.
- Any problems must be identified to the site safety officer immediately so that replacements can be arranged.
4.2.2 Inspection
- Prior to using any safety equipment (individual issue or centrally stored), personnel must inspect each piece to ensure that it is in good working
order. - Equipment exhibiting any signs of wear or damage will be immediately placed out of service and repaired/replaced.
