FOX Corporation encourages scripted television productions to donate all leftover, unserved food that meet applicable food safety regulations.
1.0 Scope
This Policy applies to all FOX Corporation (FOX) productions and live events.
2.0 Responsibilities
Specific program responsibilities under the EHS management program are listed below.
2.1 Production Executives
Production Executives will:
- Communicate the contents of this policy to Producers and Production Management.
2.2 Production Management
Production Management will:
- Communicate the contents of this policy to all crewmembers.
- Identify and coordinate donations to food banks and/or food recovery programs.
- Ensure donation recipient signs Donation Contract Agreement.
- Ensure the donation recipient provides data on the amount of donated food.
2.3 Department Heads and Supervisory Personnel
Department Heads and Supervisory Personnel will:
- Ensure that all personnel are informed of the contents of this policy.
- Support the donation of leftover food.
2.4 Catering and Craft Services
Catering and Craft Services will:
- Work with Production Management to secure food banks and/or food recovery programs.
- Donate any leftover food that is individually wrapped or has not been served.
- Ensure food and grocery products to be donated meet all quality and labeling standards imposed by applicable laws and regulations.
- Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations regarding food handling and safety.
2.5 Crewmembers
Crewmembers will:
- Understand and comply with the contents of this policy.
2.6 Environmental, Health and Safety Department
Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Department will:
- Develop and maintain appropriate standards for food donation efforts.
- Offer recommendations on food banks and/or food recovery programs.
- Help identify and coordinate local organizations for donations.
- Periodically review, revise and update this Procedure, as necessary.
3.0 Procedure
3.1 Pre-Production
- Connect with a local food bank or food recovery program for each filming location.
- To help locate a food bank, contact Rock and Wrap It Up!, an independent nonprofit that has a national database of over 43,000 food banks and shelters covering 500 cities.
- For additional help locating food banks, refer to the List of Food Banks attachment in Section 5.0.
- Require the recipient organization to sign a Donation Contract Agreement.
- Schedule food donation pick-ups a week in advance.
3.2 Production
- Add food donation recipient to the Call Sheet for the day of the pick-up.
- Food handlers should follow proper handwashing and hygiene practices.
- Avoid cross-contamination of foods.
- Store food to be donated in a designated area that adheres to applicable food safety standards.
- Ensure food is stored and transported at the proper temperature.
- Ensure all food that is donated meets applicable laws and regulations.
3.3 Data Tracking
- Require the food donation recipient to provide a report on the quantity of food donated. This can be either per day, or after the production wraps.
- Calculate the number of meals donated and the reduction of CO2e emissions. This can be done at http://www.greenproductionguide.com/tools/food-donations/.
